But they did have their origins in the German Workers Party, and Hitler rejected capitalism as the product of wealthy elites (which he identified with the Jews). My point is that even the appearance of some overlap between the National Socialists back then and progressives back then was false. Likewise, any appearance of similarity between Trump and Bernie is fake. You simply cannot divorce any of Trump's positions from his overall racism and fascism. I would be careful to draw too many similarities with Hitler - I think that would be inappropriate. But given what we know of historical fascism, we should also known that is modern version might be an odd duck in politics because it appears to be for workers rights etc. while being far rightwing.
