(4,229 posts)At least from people I have talked to there are a small number of republicans and a larger amount of independents who like Bernie because he is not rich, speaks his mind, and is against free trade.
I feel sure that ALL the democrats who vote for Bernie will vote Hillary in the general. However the republicans and independents will never vote for Clinton for a variety of reasons. Of the ones I talked to, don't like the whole royal family succession thing....hate her gun control focus.......speeches to Wall Street undermine her populist rhetoric...I know a lot of libertarian leaning people who won't vote for her because they think she's too much of a hawk.
So I think her support among Democratic voters is solid however the non dems crossing over that give Sanders the edge over Trump for sure will not vote for her.
Clinton will have to make up that 5 to 10% somewhere else. I thought it would be rich republicans who are socially progressive but they seem to be coalescing behind Trump even though Clinton would probably represent the rich better than Trump.
