which practically ensures he will not be selected and if he were to be selected, could not win due to anemic base turnout.

it's the Obama taint, that won't wash off anytime soon.

if the Republican elites try to push Hagel onto a party that voted largely for Trump, they will be disappointed. i think Hagel himself would turn down the nomination were it handed to him.
