(4,558 posts)One thing really matters to me.. Trump not winning in November.
Who here has never had a candidate that they really.. Really... REALLY believed in, supported, and did everything they could to see them succeed, then watch them lose?
Try to placate those few that are swearing to go Trump now? I agree, screw those ones.
There's the demographic that now, no matter what won't vote Hillary.. We've seen some here. It won't win their votes or support, but outreach takes the power of their argument down a good bit.
Then there's the Demographic that now, will hold their nose and vote for Hillary in the GE. We've also seen a pretty good number of those here. For some of this Demographic, heartfelt outreach may get them more energized, and not just vote but help convince others to join in that vote.
Then there's the Demographic that now.. Not really sure one way or the other if they will or won't support Hillary. Good outreach has the potential to swell those numbers, probably the most of any demographic.
Goodwill costs nothing, has no downside, and can help bridge some of the division resulting from the rough primary season. If November ends up being close enough, it may even be the critical difference, especially in the swing states.
Hardline attitudes without any desire of reconcilliation.. Isn't that one of the things we really dislike about our opponents? We're the ones who believe in humanity. We're the ones who aren't supposed to have a problem saying "I'm sorry". Hell... We're the smart adults in the room normally.
