I've never exactly been the patriotic type: it so often feels tribalistic. Instead I've proudly embraced being a citizen of the world.
President Obama actually makes the sparkler of national pride that sputters in my heart burst into a fireworks display.
He has been a source of great joy, pride & emotional support throughout his Presidency, & I (cynical, jade-souled snarker that I am) believe him when he says we lift him up.
I'm going to miss our First Family, & cannot wait to see what they do next.
Now I have to go get another box of tissues because I just re-watched his speech.
