In reply to the discussion: The Clinton campaign set the most brilliant trap ever for the cheeto faced shitgibbon. [View all]Moonwalk
(2,322 posts)...one of them would get this sort of reaction from Trump. A shoot-himself-in-the-foot reaction that would get a lot of people to turn on him. Mr. Khan's speech was the one that did it. But it could have been almost any other of those speakers. Like the Mothers of the Movement, or General Allen. It wasn't un-hoped-for, and therefore "planned," but that is was Mr. & Mrs. Khan's that did it was serendipity.
Though I will give Clinton's campaign this much credit for"setting a trap"--they put the Khans on the last night when the most people would be watching and waiting for Clinton. They were given a prime spot to say what they wanted to say. That, however, is as much to the DNC's integrity as to their calculation. Trump cast Muslims as the ultimate boogeyman in his scare-fest. It was only right that the Clinton's campaign give Muslims a chance--a really good chance--to counter all that.
And it is to the intergrity of the Clinton Campagin and the DNC that they let the Khans express their message their way. Mr. & Mrs. Khan--like their son, God rest him--have risked a lot to save us all.
