I vote on substance. Actual policies regarding what I think is best for the American people. If my candidate wins on style, then great. If they don't, I really don't care too much.

If my candidate wins on substance and style, I'll still vote for my candidate.

If my candidate wins on substance and loses on style, I'll still vote for my candidate.

If my candidate loses on substance and wins on style, I'll consider voting for the other candidate.

If my candidate loses on substance and loses on style, I'll consider voting for the other candidate.

There's an old saying in law: if you're winning on facts but not the law, argue the facts. If you're winning on the law but not the facts, argue the law. If you're winning on both the law and the facts, unless you screw it up big time you'll win. If you're losing on both the facts and law, your case stinks and you'll have to find some other extraordinary way to win. I think Trump / Pence lose on substance and in the case of Trump on style too. Their policies stink to high heaven.
