He grew up in a middle class Jewish family. His father owned a hardware store. Allan Ginsburg wrote that Bob Dylan's mother was a chicken soup Yiddisha mama. Dylan has even said his parents spoiled him.

It is wonderful that he has been given this honor. It is so well deserved.
