when Hillary was making her first senate run in 2000. The UFA (FDNY union) pretty much always endorsed the Democratic candidate. For some reason, they didn't like Hillary and decided not to endorse anyone.

My husband fought hard for a Hillary endorsement, and when it was clear that it wasn't forthcoming, he said, "You guys don't like her just because you know she's smarter than you." Not a single delegate refuted his claim.
