President Obama has no obligation to weigh in. While he is the head of the administration, he is not directly in charge of the FBI, which answers to the Attorney General and Director of National Intelligence.

It might be good for the President to put things into perspective, but it might also seem like a blatantly partisan thing to do.

I am sure that silent but sure pressure is being put on to the Attorney General and NI Director to take this in hand.
