And off they'll go.

The reason the poll numbers move at all is because those who pay almost no attention to politics are influenced not by the actual issues, but by the tone in the media. And so those folks say "What, people are upset with Obama ... ummm ... me too."

And then it blows over and we get a new jobs report, and its pretty good, and so those same folks, still not really paying attention get a sense of the good news and say "People seem happy with Obama's handling of the economy ... and so am I".

Every summer we go through this. Politics comes to a near halt, and the media needs something to talk about. So expect continued hyperventilating to continue for a bit, but also expect the topic DU JOUR to change.
