(1,330 posts)22. It's not President Obama's job to select the 2016 nominee.
Vice-presidents don't generally make very good presidential candidates anyway. In my lifetime five incumbent or recent vice-presidents have been nominated as presidential candidates and four of them lost. After Humphrey Mondale and Gore, why would you want to nominate a vice-president for president?
