second or third choice) 1988 or my first or second or third choice in 2008, nor would he have been in my top three preferred candidates in 2016, but he's been a loyal VP and has done much good over the course of his career.

If he had run -- as many politicians would have been tempted to do -- he would have endangered our chances of winning in November 2016. It was selfless that he chose not to run when it was so obvious that he wanted to run. I'm very grateful for that.
