In reply to the discussion: Sanders registers for NH Primary: "I am am running as a Democrat obviously. I am a Democrat Now" [View all]frazzled
(18,402 posts)24. Well, until this moment he was not a Democrat
He has repeatedly declined to be a nominee on the Democratic ticket for either Representative or Senator in Vermont. So now he is a Democrat (because you HAVE to be a Democrat to be included on the NH ballot for the Democratic primary). Or did he say "for now"?
I truly wonder if he will retain the Democratic label if he does not win the nomination. Next time he runs for reelection in Vermont, will he run as a Democrat? Actually, can we change him from I to D in the Senate right now?? Or was this just ... as is so often charged here of other candidates ... just "pandering"?
I don't really care, but the statement that Sanders was not a Democrat were absolutely true until today.

It is nice having someone in national politics who confronts Wall Street as Bernie does.

A reporter needs to ask him if he will remain a Democrat after he loses the nomination.

It's about time. Hillary's only been a Democrat for about 40 years, & Bernie's nice and fresh.

That's OK. I'll still vote for him if he gets the nomination as a (D).
