(46,671 posts)I am saying that neo-liberal, Thirdway policies have resorted to finding common ground with Republicans and the only thing that they agree on is rebuilding public infra-structure. It's a safe compromise because it is one that everyone can agree on. But it is not enough in the long run, because it does nothing to change anyone's racial perceptions.
Worse, the programs that Thirdway Democrats and Republicans agree on that involve economic or criminal justice objectives only add to the burden for minorities. So, five, ten, fifteen years later we are dealing with the same problems when a young black man can't even walk down to the 7 11 for a pack of Skittles without being confronted and killed.
I have no idea how you concluded that I was saying that Hillary was responsible for how federal contracts are awarded. My observation was based on a local observation from the nineties. Reading city minutes from the nineties I definitely got the impression that the local government intentionally pulled in locals to help with city projects that were vast. Federal money was included. The situation became disastrous, IMHO, because they relied on social networking and there was too much cross-over into developments that should have remained separate and private and required more due diligence than a talk with a Rotary club member. That's how corrupt and/or stupid things can get where cities use small government as a public administration model.
