(58,785 posts)A lot of people don't realize roughly half of all people in all racial, religious, and ethnic are hard-wired CONSERVATIVE in personality to various degrees and types (like social and authoritarian or/and economic).
That includes Blacks, of course. In some regions of the world, like hot ones, more than half the people are conservative by nature and culture. Most of our Blacks both live in the hot part of the U.S. and have ancestral backgrounds in hot climates too.
The only reason we assume minorities should be Democrats is because they're continually being shot at from the right. But the party's shelter is a very bad fit on many issues and a serious, ongoing problem for them -- and thus for candidates vying for their vote.
Then, as you pointed out, Bernie is just not religious, is not a Christian, is not a man of faith, is "apostate" Jewish. Just how big IS that factor -- for religious people of all faiths, political identities, ethnicities and colors?
