(20,226 posts)I would prefer Bernie over her the same way I would support Bernie over Vice President Biden or Bernie over Bill Richardson or whoever.
I don't think we really have the time to just tweak the status quo. In many respects we are already going backwards. The situation is already desperate.
Besides without a strong left pushing more radical and immediate changes we have only the center-right and the far right. There is no place to compromise if we simply support policies that are based on the least we can get. The Republicans never worry about pushing too far on the right. They just keep pushing it farther and farther.
Most Republicans I know have the opposite view of Hillary and any mainstream Democratic Party figures. They denounce them as far leftist and radical socialist. Well, of course that is crazy. But if they are as far left as it goes in the American political body politic. Then a political body politic is by default created in which center-right becomes by definition as far left as anyone can go - and no farther.
There is a reason why President Obama said that in the 80's he might have been a moderate Republican and that Richard Nixon was more liberal than him in many ways.
