We live in a swipe left/swipe right world. If what you're posting isn't the product viewers came to this site to consume, it's unsatisfying for them. Sometimes, hitting the "report post' button is the only power people have been able to exert all day. So, they do it. It isn't personal. It is unfortunate, though, if you've spent time writing it.

The best advice is to not put much effort into posts here -- at least until you get a better sense of what is going to be shot down. If your expectation is actual engagement, it just isn't going to happen to the degree you might have hoped for. DU is more of an echo chamber -- which can be okay, once you see it as such.
