(68,552 posts)the blue wall states...if you look at the electoral map and I plan to post it today at some point...you will see that our most likely victory and Trump's most likely victory lie in three states...blue wall states...MI,WI and PA...he wins those states and he gets four more years. If we win there, we send him packing. I would add that this is a problem going forward...we won't just lose 20 if we don't win back the blue wall states, we will lose 24 and beyond as we have no current path to the presidency without these states.
Biden is way ahead in those states and the most likely candidate to win' it is possible he could win Florida and maybe other states as well but we can't count on this....the blue wall states are where our victory andTrump's defeat lie. All this angst about the perfect candidate and wanting this time to finally have a progressive candidate who excites you etc, will cause us to lose the general...and that would be horrible and deal a death blow to the progressive movement and and the progressive agenda. We won't even recognized this country if and when he finally leaves. It is that serious. No one has ever been able to tell me how candidates other than Biden win blue wall states. He has better numbers and it doesn't make sense to pick weaker (in those states) candidates.
I would add the the adoption of reparations, busing and MFA etc. have made some candidates unlikely to win a general...We have always won with a big tent and the more pure we become...the less likely we are to win.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
