(2,461 posts)I know there are people that get their backs up when 'the establishment' is used as a negative way.
Here's a way to turn that frown upside down: think of establishment as the good roots of a stable plant.
It needs pruning every now and then or it won't thrive. Sometimes it even takes a forest fire, intentional or not.
Some plants have suckers, or throw out new shoots, or you can even clone them!
Yes, they owe something to the established plant, but the established plant is either in stasis or dying. The established plant, in the great cycle of life needs its wanderers or its species dies.
The system we have now is in need of wanderers. I think of Sanders as one who is still trying to establish new roots.
Although he certainly has done an amazing job in the past few years 'establishing' himself!!! Look at the DNC platform!
Now, just to elect a leader that has some tendrils entwined in the grass roots!
Go Bernie!
primary today, I would vote for: Undecided
