I think the young supporters of Sanders who did not vote for Clinton never would have. Those were not regular consistent voters. What gets lost in the narrative is that Sanders engaged a great number of new voters who were excited about his candidacy. Without him in the race, they went back to being nonvoters. If that happens again, and Sanders isnt the nominee, they may stay for another candidate but I doubt it would be for Biden.
So yes, regular voters who support Sanders will vote for another nominee in General as they did before. But potential voters who are excited about a Sanders platform who do not usually vote will probably stay home if its a Biden but would probably vote if its one of the other progressive candidates.
IMHO of course.
