(8,144 posts)affectedshort term memory loss, apathy, these show up in youth particularly, whereas people more used to the effects, already trained and habituated to job demands, with impulse control established, can get by. We do have enough studies to show negative affect of continuous and long
term pot use on developing minds.
But adults can also suffer a number of side effects. And often they add other drugs, alcohol, prescription drugs, to the mix which can result in making some drug effects more potent or blocking needed effects. Driving with a number of drugs on board is also a social problem we need to consider. Only after enough study can we come to sensible drug policies that need not be unduly draconian but also can protect more vulnerable populations, while establishing needed restrictions in operating machinery, establishing drug warnings and contraindications, protecting the public while respecting individual rights.
We should not be as nonchalant in our policies as we were once, on the other hand, so quick to adopt Needlessly punitive and stigmatizing laws. We need more information. That is straight forward and what we would demand for any substance in wide use with some mind-altering properties.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
