(4,377 posts)But what scares me the most is that out of desperation to get rid of the twisted, corrupt bastard in the White House we'll end up going for what seems like a safe option, only to find we've repeated the same mistakes as we did last time, and end up handing him another four years.
I'm very aware though that I could be wrong. Maybe the people shouting 'It'll be McGovern all over again!' are right and I'm the fool. But after analyzing every aspect I can of the political situation we find ourselves in, I'm convinced that passion and enthusiasm and picking a candidate that inspires hope is the best chance we have against the endless ratfucking, lies and trickery we know the Republicans will pull in the general.
If you're passionate about a candidate its a lot less likely that you'll stay home when you see the opposition being negative about them, than it is if you weren't really that inspired in the first place.
