Democratic Primaries

(23,367 posts)It never has been. I do think that its highly likely to be very different demographically. Also, I think there is probably more extremism. I dont mean that in the left-right sense, I mean it in the sense of something like factionalism and fixed ideas. At least it seems that way to me based on what I read. Then again, what Im referring to could be related to frequency of expressing a viewpoint on certain issues.
In reading posts on this site four years ago, I thought it was very strongly pro-Sanders and also anti-Clinton. There was certainly a shift since that time in the viewpoints of some and also certainly in who is posting.
I think that among relatively political-minded people generally, there can be a lot of nuance and openness that I dont necessarily take to indicate a lack of education or resolve- in many cases I think its a willingness to take a second look, and another, and not necessarily through the lens of existing perspectives. I think that can be a good quality.
Sometimes politics can be like team sports and tidy and digestible talking points can be created and used, sometimes with at least a bit of cynicism. After having held such a talking point as a sort of tool, I think one can come to wholly believe it and then be under the effect of it.
Just as an aside: its about a couple thousand people in all, likely, who have posted in the primaries forum. At least I think so based on data on incremental changes in candidate support that have been reported (backing out likely associated underlying values).
primary today, I would vote for: Undecided
