(9,533 posts)Sanders is the only one unabashedly calling for Medicare for All. It's overly idealistic given Congress but if you don't start by calling for what's right, what do you have? Obamacare never helped us, since we make just a little too much for any subsidies. We're stuck for now with employer healthcare for a lousy HMO that went up 50% over last year. It's immoral and we can't wait any longer.
I'm back in the Sanders camp on this issue. I would support Warren, too. The rest are good on most issues, but not good enough on healthcare to solve our most pressing problem.
I have talked to many seniors who are between 60 and 65 and are paying $900 or $1,000 a month for healthcare. Ours combined is more than our mortgage. We never could have planned for this. If we didn't have a bit of savings we'd have lost our house -- and here in California, you'll soon have to pay a fine if you don't have healthcare that's hundreds of dollars, so there is really NO choice, not even taking your chances with no health insurance.
Most of the people I know in their 50s and 60s are now supporting Sanders or Warren for those reasons. He's not just for the kids.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
