Democratic Primaries

(8,999 posts)I like Bernie, voted for him in the last primary but soon afterwards I heard a man who could not get beyond his soundbites. He would get agitated when pressed at times.
In the debate in Nevada, I think it was Buttigieg that pushed him to expand on how he was going to pay for his healthcare plan but it took quit a bit to nudge that out of him and he still couldn't explain the gap squarely. At least he started to expand on it but to me it was too little too late.
I don't see a person who is very adaptable and moveable. If he is the nominee I will vote for him and I will root for him to succeed. He has some good ideas but he is alienating a part of the party and has been pretty consistent on making the Democratic party seem like some sort of boogeyman that he alone can fix. He can't do it alone. I also wonder if his recent heart attack has made him desperate to get the Presidency. I lost my dad and step-dad to heart failure fairly shortly after they each had heart surgeries within the same year. My dad spent his time preparing, getting things in order and my step-dad went wild trying to upend everything and figure out some lasting legacy in a few desperate attempts that had us on edge (don't get me wrong, he was a wonderful step-father and I loved him dearly but there was some concern about his state of mind. He knew more about his health than we did. We only learned after he passed that he was told he had congestive heart failure and he hid that from us). He ended up not doing anything to prepare and left a hot mess. What I'm trying to say is that Bernie might be even more difficult to work with than previously thought and getting his ideas implemented might be an uphill climb considering his relationship with the Democrats, past and present.
I don't know if that would be the case with Bernie obviously...but his momentum should be more uniting at this point. Unfortunately I see it getting even more divisive of late.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
