(2,461 posts)The turnout for the last national election was abysmal, but the popular vote reflected the % of registered voters for each party, nonetheless. The electoral college sunk Hillary. Bernie is very popular in the mid-west/rust belt. AND he got independents behind his policies. Policies that are neither right or left or populist, or rather ARE all of the above.
'Right' you say? Trade. I'm not too crazy about all the isolationist ramifications, or at least, the popular appeal of this trend - in its raw and potentially xenophobic/tribalist appeal. This is one thing I wish Sanders would be clearer on. I do, however, fully support his stance on the importance of unions, which outside of the leadership of both parties, though def. falling hard on the Repub side, is popular with the working voters irrelevant of party.
I think he is the least divisive - and represents the least divisive tendencies from sea to sea.
