(32,640 posts)And don't need to be to vote for them. Any candidate that demands unquestioning lockstep raises my antennae. I've seen very, very few of them, as actual Demcorats of long standing understand that we are a coalition of diverse groups and that is our strength, and not a weakness characterized perjoratively as "identity politics"
It's why I've stayed with it as candidates come and go.
I do think 100% that the most centrist Democratic candidate is always preferable to the most liberal Republican in this day and age. Nixon would be burned at the stake as a liberal Democrat by current GOP party standards (founding the EPA, signing the Clean Air act putting forward a universal health care plan) as anything but conservative, showing how far to the right they have careened.
