30. This is the number one issue

How we get to universal health care, what we do on so many fronts—educational, economic, social, and political—can only be predicated upon a return to the fundamental democratic values, America’s promise to its people and to the world, which Trump and GOP have trampled upon, most horrifically in response to Charlottesville. In days to come, we will argue many competing and significant policy positions, but “this,” this message should be the uniting and overarching callto arms. Every day Americans, despite partisanship, need to be reminded by all our democratic candidates that the fight is for the nation’s soul. We can’t predict the primaries, how Joe or any others, will fare in the long run. Notwithstanding the chance for any one issue to gain traction, Biden launches with the principal moral imperative that should guide this contest. I am impressed but not surprised. Go Joe!

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
