(12,434 posts)Im not arguing with the people here at DU, but women are tired of being relegated to the back benches. When will it ever be time for a woman to be either president or VP? I know that primary voters will choose, but it just seems so obvious that many AmericansDemocrats and Republicans alikesimply refuse to see women as leaders. Is that why Warren and Harris are lower in the polls? There are excuses for both, like an abrasive personality or she just hasnt caught on, which have some validity. But its hard to argue that Donald Trumps abrasive personality hurt him. Why do weand the mediastill have such different standards for women. If the media had not treated Mayor Pete as their new political star, would he be where he is today?
I like Mayor Pete and he thinks well on his feet, but are his policies any better than Warrens. Is he smarter? Who knows, because both are smart. I will support whoever is nominated, but Ive now given up any hope that I will see a woman as president of this country in my lifetime. The power of the media to manipulate our impressions is great, even when we think we cant be manipulated. For example, what impact does story after story about Mayor Pete have when few stories exist for Kamala Harris? Obama was a media darling (except for right-wing media, of course), but he may have been an aberration because its still mostly a white mans game.

primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
