How to host and lead a community canvass
Hosting a community canvass is a great way to talk to a lot of people in a short amount of time. With a small team of volunteers, you can talk to dozens of people in just a couple of hours and record their responses in BERN.

Step One: Pick your meetup location and time
What are some public places near you where you and a team of volunteers could speak to members of your community? Think of places with consistent foot traffic like a park, street corner, farmers market, or outside of a grocery store. Make sure the spot you pick is easy to get to for volunteers - with accessible parking or public transportation nearby.
Make sure to host your community canvass at a time when there will be lots of pedestrians to talk to, and at a time when volunteers will be able to attend. In the early evening after work or during the day on a weekend are often good times to host canvasses.
Step Two: Post your community canvass on the Bernie events map
Make sure to post your event on the Bernie events map so that any Bernie supporters in your area can sign up to join you! Once you post your canvass online, the Bernie campaign will help to notify Bernie supporters in your area about your event.

Step Three: Recruit your friends
As mentioned earlier, the campaign will help to recruit local Bernie supporters to come to your canvass. But YOU, the host, are the most effective recruiter. Take 30 minutes to call, text, or direct message your friends about your canvass. And dont forget to send them a reminder message the day before your event!
Step Four: Get logged in and familiar with the app
Make sure youve successfully logged into the app before your canvass. Review the responses that youre going to be asking people on the street to fill in. You should be prepared to help volunteers to log in and use the app on the day of your canvass.
