Ok, not sure where to even begin, but lets take this whole Gannon thing further. We already know he is a fake reporter from a fake news agency so Im betting that he was probably a fake Marine or some kind of military wannabe. Anyone up for trying to find out?

I know Walt did a lot of good work on Bush, so this guy should be easy to do I would think.

Additionally, if this issue is already being addressed, someone please point me to that.

1. Somewhere on DU there is minimal info about his military service...
Somebody did some kind of public records search and came up with a match.

If you have the ability to search, maybe you can find it.

Can't find a Guckert anywhere...

A poseur, perhaps...

Like an ex-security guard pretending like he used to be a cop?

5. I can suggest a resource
One of my favorite places to find publicly-available information on people is a website called www.virtualgumshoe.com. The left-hand side data classified by category. Click on military and it leads you to the websites, both government and hobbyist, on military records.

7. His "USMCPT", where the PT stood for "Part Time"
CAN there be such a thing as a PART TIME Marine?
My ex is/was a proud member of the corps, served in Vietnam
and I'm a telling you -- when he was in, it was FULL FREAKING TIME.

According to him, either you is
or you ain't. But he's been out a long time now.

(Out as in out of the CORPS LOL
Not OUT as in Gannon/Guckert!)

Anyhow, you is: your whole life is the corps -- 24/7/365.

You ain't: you serve no time, but have brothers forever.
Brothers, not buttf...ers

God I love REAL MEN
REAL MARINES!

:D

13. Oh, OK -- so you CAN be "Part Time"?
I'm not even questioning if he served or not -- I, and my ex, just find that "Part Time" to be very curious.

17. No, he put that info in himself
The Big M by his name means the info came from a member when that person joined Military.com.

Even with my unspectacular military service, I have at least one DoD entry. My other entry is an (M) entry which came from me signing up for the site as a member.

He probably did not serve. Or if he did, it was under another name.

The only way to find out more would be through a FoIA request.

10. Part time huh? Ive never heard of that either... makes me suspicious
I mean, it cant even be confused with 'reserves' because it is what it is..you say you are a reservist..not part time. Even though I havent had any luck at all so far with tracking down his service, I think I can be pretty damn sure he never served. Maybe Ill start an email thing to some of these horrible blogger people to see if they can dig up any dirt.

11. I think the PT stood for "personal trainer"
This was one of the services--besides "Around the World" and "Dirty Sanchez"--that he offered on the USMCPT web site.

12. "Bulldog" himself stated that's what it stood for
Let me try to find the link...

OK Here it is, it's about 1/4 down the man-called-jeff page from the top notch blog who broke the story, AmericaBlog:

http://americablog.blogspot.com/2005/02/man-called-jeff.html

"When asked what USMCPT meant, Paul said he asked Jeff that very question. The answer: United States Marine Corps, Part Time. Paul recalls Jeff telling him he was still in the Marines, but only part time. Paul also recalls Jeff being around 40 years old, even though the Web site said he was 32."

Paul is the guy who designed the web sites for Gan/Guk and was wondering what the title stood for.

14. I have someone who might check info for me
I would need.

*Full name (including middle name/initial if you have it)
*Approximate dates of service, branch of service, rank, and
MOS/specialty skill.

Do we have any of this?

18. Found no info on him
The only info on Military.com is what he put in there himself as a member. That's what the big M means.

I was told the only other option would be to do a FOIA on him.
