On CNN now, during White House Meeting, Obama and Boehner dominated conversation.....
No link. The CNN pool reporter says that McCain & Boehner introduced a brand new version of the bill that actually dumped the idea of a public bailout. There plan would be for private investment money, funded by tax loopholes and increased deregulation of investments (I'm not making this up). At some point, Obama cut off Boehner and complained that no specifics had been offered and that he needed to see them because this crisis needed to be resolved immediately. After a back and forth talk for over five minutes Boehner agreed to provide the full plan as soon as possible.

McCain & Boehner basically hijacked the deal, and Obama called them out on it in his diplomatic sort of way.

BTW, according to the reporter, McCain basically said nothing the entire meeting.

12. If this gets out into the wild, McCain and the Republicans are SCREWED.
WTF are they thinking? Is this really all about getting out of the debate?

20. Tax loopholes = public funding
If they get tax loopholes (which a law professor insisted on calling "tax preferences"), they will pay less in tax. Who makes up the difference between what comes in and what the government needs? Look in the mirror, or apologize to your grandkids .

25. It's basically a more convoluted attempt at "trickle down economics"
It's just WTF? You really can't teach an old dog new tricks. After Wall Street's proven that they don't know how to be smart about money, you want to give them freer rein over money and hope AGAIN that they share the good stuff even though they've already had a 50 year history of not doing so?

9. That's what McCain was banking on...
But achieving that with further tax breaks and deregulation would just be substituting our current crisis for a future larger one.

It's time to do what we need to do to survive this and lock these motherfuckers down so they can't pull this shit again.

He doesn't understand the fundamentals of the economy thus
he doesn't grasp what this problem is. Therefore, he has no clue what to say or any ideas of his own on how to fix it.

It makes one wonder what the hell he has been doing in D.C. all these years and he doesn't understand the economy.

Insert McCain, blow up the agreement, eventually give McCain credit for saving the day when a deal has to be done.

8. McCain and Boner ambushed everyone and sabotaged the meeting.
They are trying to force Democrats to pass the bill over their "free Market" objections. Then they'll claim they are innocent and run against Dems for growing government.

McCain tells the world he wants to address the problem, but he really wants to make it appear as if he is trying to help, but he's not.

10. Its as always more of their trickle down bolongna
The proposal was a slight of hand and perhaps an even poorer proposal because it allows them to go out the back door with our treasury and pretend all is well.

Tax breaks, deregulation (which you KNOW will cause more of this nonsense) and loopholes are their standard fare to rip off the country. Plus, this is something that will take a lot of ramp up to happen. If time is of an issue, this won't cut it.

America needs to as quickly as possible fully reject the Republican economic philosophy FOREVER. It has repeatedly proven to not work and always puts the country in an incredible bind.

This is worse than giving into Paulson's stick up robbery bill.

19. So McCain "suspended" his campaign, put the debate on hold, and blew off David Letterman
so he could swoop in to DC and save the day, and when he got there he did his Clarence Thomas imitation?

:wtf:
