Washington, D.C. – “Diane Benson’s defeat of long-time entrenched Republican Don Young is the upset of the new century,” states Tim Russert,.

THIS IS THE HEADLINE ON ELECTION NIGHT…IF…

With only 34 days left in the election, the Diane Benson for Congress Campaign and all of its supporters and volunteers have to place themselves in ULTRA-HIGH GEAR.

Allow me to look into my crystal ball and tell you the future:

On November 08, 2006 Representative-Elect Diane Benson will have just come off a win against incumbent Donald Young. She will become the most influential Democrat in Alaska politics due to this win; a win that no Democrat has been able to pull off in over 30 years. I don’t tell you this to downplay any of Alaska’s great Democrats. I tell you this because she will take this win to Congress with her. Because she beat a 34 year incumbent with very little money and with no assistance (as of this date) from the DCCC, she will not be perceived as an everyday “Freshman Congresswoman”. She will be able to walk up the steps of capital hill with confidence and with POWER. This power will be amplified due to the U.S. House being taken over by the Democratic Party. I made a prediction in front of many great Democrats today, and have I placed a $500 bet with a long-time Republican here in Alaska that I eat breakfast with most mornings, that Diane Benson will beat Don Young by 2.5% points.

I am not a rich man, but I am a confident man. I am a man that will leave his family and friends behind in the GREAT STATE OF INDIANA and hook my horses up to the Benson Wagon. I am a man that has not seen his wife’s face in over 4 months. I am a man that will give my all for a candidate that I have never spoken to before June 15, 2006. I was convinced then, and now, that she is the one to beat Don Young. I tell you this to give you an insight why I am here and working diligently to make this campaign a success. I tell you this to help remind you that there is a reason, deep down perhaps, why you like Diane in this race against Don Young. Perhaps you love Diane as a person and have been sucked in by her passion and compassion. Perhaps it is your love for the Democratic Party and what it stands for, or perhaps it is just that you HATE DON YOUNG and all he stands for. Whatever the reason, DIANE NEEDS YOU NOW.

We are soooo close to victory, I can smell it. I can’t taste it yet, but the aroma is making my mouth water.

Diane needs each and everyone of you to take stock and say, “What can I do to ensure that we have a Democrat in the US Congress come January 2007?”

I can tell you what Diane needs from you…if that will help. These are the things Diane needs your help everyday for the next 34 days.

Diane needs you to ensure you have a yard sign in your yard.

Diane needs you to place 10 of her yard signs around your community.

Diane needs you to help place 4’x8’ signs.

Diane needs you to help make phone calls from our office or from our home. (We have calls to make for yard signs and follow- up on fundraisers)

Diane needs you to attend fundraisers for her campaign.

Diane needs you to organize canvassing for her campaign in your community. (Diane needs this to happen every weekend)

Diane needs you to wave yard signs and hold 4’ x 8’ signs on major intersections. (Diane needs people to do this everyday until election)

Diane needs you to volunteer on Election Day.

Diane needs you to recruit 3 other people to volunteer for the campaign.

Diane needs you to write letters to the editor of your local paper. (Current issue: Don won’t have power/seniority when the Democrats take the House)

Diane needs you to volunteer to help her campaign staff coordinate and organize events.

Diane needs you to deliver yards signs to homes around your community (ANCHORAGE & FAIRBANKS)

Diane needs you to come to her events…ie. Press Conferences, Breakfasts, Lunches, etc.

Diane needs you to volunteer your talents to her campaign; Graphic Designer, Writer, TV/Radio production, Web Master, Networker, etc.

Diane needs you to answer the CALL TO ACTION from her campaign.

I can say that I have been very excited by the amount of grassroots support that Diane has achieved. I am very happy when volunteers come in at a moment’s notice to put together a 1000 piece mailer for Diane that needs to be out the very next day. It is because of this, we are in the position to WIN.

I will ensure that you all have the tools needed to make this victory happen, Diane just needs your help to make it happen.

I will guarantee a VICTORY on November 7th, if Diane’s volunteers and supporters answer her call to action. It has been only through the grassroots hard work that has delivered the success that this campaign has enjoyed up to this point. Diane, Sema, Shirley and I cannot accomplish this alone. DIANE MUST HAVE YOUR BLOOD, SWEAT, & TEARS for the next 34 days.
