My LTTE for Kucinich in the Alaska Caucuses.
Don't know if this will be published in my local paper, but here it is:

To The Editor:

On February 5th, Alaska Democrats will hold our statewide presidential caucus.

We will do so this year, for the first time in many years, with the race still wide open.

Our votes will have national significance, and may well help decide who the Democratic Party nominates and on what platform that candidate stands.

I’d like to ask everyone to join me in caucusing for Congressman Dennis Kucinich.

Dennis Kucinich stands, with strength, with courage, and without apology, for the things Democrats and progressives in Alaska and across the country REALLY want, including:

-The impeachment of George W. Bush AND Dick Cheney;

-A quick end to the Republican wars against the Middle East;

-Universal not-for-profit single-payer healthcare

-Global trade policies that help working people rise to the top, not race to the bottom.

-A foreign policy that gains friends in the world through support of justice and peace for all, that builds global stability from the bottom up, not the top down;

-A society where all of us have a real chance and a real say, not just those who already have wealth and power.

Dennis Kucinich will be campaigning all the way to the Democratic National Convention as the candidate of peace, justice, jobs and hope. The more delegates Dennis can bring to Denver under his banner, the greater the chance the Democratic party will go to the voters in the fall on a strong, tough, decisive and electable program of real change.

And after the convention, the Kucinich movement will go on, continuing to work for long-term social and political change in Alaska and across the country.

Don’t let the media tell you that Dennis Kucinich isn’t a serious candidate. Don’t let the “party pros” tell you that a vote for Dennis Kucinich is worth nothing. This is the Democratic Party, the “party of the people” and the people, not the pros or the pundits, should take our time and decide for ourselves who truly represents us.

Robert F. Kennedy once called on us to “Seek a Newer World” Supporting Dennis Kucinich is the way to fight for such a world, the world that our heroes died for and our children deserve.

It’s said that politics is “the art of the possible”. But with work and with hope, we can make anything possible.

This year, vote for what you want...
…for what you believe
…for what the pros and the pundits say can’t be done.

This year, support someone who speaks clearly when the other candidates say nothing,

Someone who has been proved right over and over again by the last four years,

Someone who stands up for the majority, not just the big donors and the CEO’s.

On February 5th, come to the Juneau Democratic Caucus at Centennial Hall (registration starts at 4:30 and you need to register to vote as a Democrat to participate for the evening) and stand up for Dennis Kucinich. It’s our best chance this year to fight for the future.

1. Good letter.
Do you guys have a word limit down there? I think this may be more than the 250 the Anchorage Daily News allows.

4. Ken, now that Kucinich and Edwards, whom I supported,
have suspended their campaigns, can we still caucus for them? I was all excited to go, but now that it's just down to Hillary and Obama, I really could care less. I know you have more experience with this than I do. What's the next step?
