Trying to figure out if this violates any laws on campaign advertising.

Tonight, I saw an ad for the Rie Munoz gallery here in Juneau(Full disclosure, Rie is an old friend of mine and I have nothing against her in this);

Cathy Munoz, who is Rie's daughter-in-law and the Republican candidate for the District 4 state legislative seat(Lemon Creek Mendenhall Valley)does the ad. She says nothing about the race in the ad, but it gives her face time and in theory gives her greater name familiarity in an advertisement that could manage to avoid being counted against campaign finance limits.

Anybody know if this is legal?

1. Jay Ramras does the same thing...

I've seen dozens of commercials for Pike's Landing or whatever the hotel he owns, and he is front and center talking in all of them, with his name in a chiron on the bottom, he might even introduce himself I can't remember.

And I noticed earlier this year there were signs popping up for Ray Metcalfe's realty company that have his name and his picture in a much more prominent position than anything about his realty company.

I have no idea if it is legal or not, but I assume that it is because it is done pretty frequently. But I guess the two examples I gave aren't exactly pillars of integrity in the state so who knows.
