MEDFORD, Mass. -- Police are on the hunt for a possible rabid pit bull after a teenager suffered several bite wounds on Thursday afternoon in Medford.
The animal attack occurred by the train tracks on Middlesex Avenue near a BJ's Wholesale Club store.
The 14-year-old victim was transported to Lawrence Memorial hospital and is expected to be OK.
He described his animal attacker as a light brown pit bull, wearing a black and blue collar.
The victim said the pit bull's owner called the pet "Sasha," so authorities believe the dog is female.
According to authorities, the dog's owner is described as a black male around 5-foot-9. He reportedly was last seen running from the scene with the pit bull and a young girl who is assumed to be his daughter.
The victim said the owner took no action at first when the dog started to attack. The boy said the owner eventually asked to see the his wounds and proceeded to tell him he would be fine.
