A six-alarm fire has broken out at 483 Beacon St. in a high-rise where firefighters are using ladder trucks to reach the upper floors.

Nine-alarm fire raging in Back Bay

Boston firefighters are battling a nine-alarm blaze in Back Bay this afternoon. Firefighters have rescued at least one person from the multi-story Beacon Towers building at the intersection of Beacon Street and Massachusetts Avenue.

According to Boston assessing records, the building on fire is a condo with 83 residential units. Firefighters were conducting searches of each unit.

Firefighters reported seeing heavy fire showing from upper floor windows on arrival. No further details were immediately available.

The Boston Police say that several surrounding streets are closed and advised motorists to steer clear.
