Some state of Michigan employee unions are planning a rally at a state office building in Detroit.
The event scheduled for Cadillac Place today comes as Gov. Rick Snyder's administration seeks $145 million in concessions from state employees to help balance the state budget for the fiscal year that starts in October.
Those discussions will ramp up soon because the United Auto Workers division representing about 17,000 state employees is scheduled to begin contract talks with the state this month.
Unions also plan to promote ideas they say would save the state money and promote efficiency.
