Report: Pics put Clemens at Canseco bash
Posted: February 22, 2008
Sporting News staff reports

Photos exist that prove Roger Clemens was at a party in 1998 at the home of his then-teammate Jose Canseco, the New York Daily News reports.

Whether Clemens was at that party became a key point of conflict in testimony given by the pitcher and his former trainer Brian McNamee during a Congressional hearing Feb. 13. Richard Emery, McNamee's lawyer, now tells the Daily News that a child at the party took pictures of baseball players, including Clemens.

The party also was mentioned in the Mitchell Report.

If the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform may or may not make a formal request for the attorney general to investigate whether McNamee or Clemens provided false testimony. Sources told the newspaper they expect the committee to refer the entire matter of illegal drug use in baseball to the Justice Department, not just the Clemens inquiry.

3. I find it interesting
that these pictures put Clemens at Canseco's party. Canseco himself said that Clemens did not attend. Now what I'm wondering is why is Canseco covering for Clemens? It doesn't make any sense, especially since Canseco has been trying to out so many of the steroid users in baseball.

4. That was a lock
I couldn't believe the Republican congressmen especially blowhard Dan Burton continually latched onto the denial, and Canseco deposition, as definitive proof that Clemens didn't attend. McNamee didn't mind conceding false statements but on the Canseco issue he matter of factly said he wasn't lying. At that point I was sure Clemens had been at the party.

It made no sense for the nanny to be at the house and the kids stay overnight, but Clemens never at the party, the reason for the entire get together.
