ITHACA — He's a crimson guy with the red party running for governor of a blue Northeast state.

Again.

"My feeling is, this is the job I was born to do," New York gubernatorial candidate and former Massachusetts governor William Weld said before giving a speech at the Tompkins County Republican Party's annual Lincoln Dinner Saturday night.

The New York-born Weld, 60, was educated at Harvard and served as a federal prosecutor during the Reagan administration before running for elected office. Weld, who grew up on Long Island, took up residence in New York, again, in 2000.

Well, why didn't he say that before? I'll be happy to switch my vote now...

(I guess Massachusetts was just an out of town tryout?)
