152. Well, how's this for honesty, then:
What Sen. Obama was telling the Democratic attendees at the San Francisco fund-raiser was in effect: "If we get the small town factories reopened, people out there will stop opposing gun control, they'll stop giving money to fundie preachers, they'll kumbayah with people of color, and they'll stop being so resentful of the folks who babysit your kids and mow your grass."


We all know that's not gonna happen, so why rub rural America's nose in the idea that your big city supporters see them as bible-thumping, gun-toting, racist, xenophobic hicks who can be cured simply with a paycheck?


Playing the city folks off against the country folks is not the way that we bring America together. Sen. Obama needs to tell the city folks that they need to support efforts to rebuild the American heartland as a matter of justice, not just a matter of what you have to do to fool the rubes into getting your larger agenda passed.
