I dunno, though, the Ayatollah never had as much staying power as a BFEE baddie as Saddam did, and of course he's no longer there. They haven't given themselves enough time to develop a new proper villain in that country, so maybe it won't work.

The really intriguing part is the big dip in the economy approval; as far as I know, the economy hasn't gotten any more heinous than it was before the "Bush Lied" revelation, and yet now a majority feel he's doing a poor job of hadling it. I guess it's a domino effect; as long as he's righteously bombing furriners, people are willing to suspend their disbelief on a number of issues. Once the cracks appear, though, the masses pour right through them.
