Let's face it, even in Massachusetts, which has an incredible number of institutions of "higher learning," Brown did not come from way behind Coakley to win by a huge margin based on his integrity, his towering intellect or his superior debate performance, none of which were anything to write home about.

His win was based on willingness to be a bit shady, a lot of slick packaging, a fair amount of personal appeal, and a big dose of help from the Koch fortune, a big does of help from his Party and his Party's biggest names and his very strong media relationships, courtesy of his wife's many years in local media.

We'll see how the primaries go, but my own primary decision probably will not be easy.
