Try replacing "Al Sharpton" with "George W. Bush", and see how well it still fits. How else does the priveleged son of a wealthy New England family, a graduate of Andover, Harvard, and Yale, who is no more familiar with Wal-Mart than Paris Hilton, manage to portray himself as a "plain-spoken, man of the people", while painting his political foes as elitist? Would Derbyshire hack on the pres for his legendary "Bushisms"? Naw, that dog won't hunt. He doesn't want to sound elitist.

Would he make fun of the diction of the rural, white, southern working class? No, that elitism would anger National Review subscribers. Perish the thought!!
