(Charlie Wilson and Alfred P Sloan) are credited with saying that what is good for America is good for General Motors and vice versa. I don't think it's a particularly good quote to support job retention or other modern issues. GM was the largest employer (unionized) at that time and jobs were not being exported yet. However arrogant, executives in the 50's were more likely to be focused on the economy doing well. Wish it were true today.
Today business policy is all "I I Me Me Mine". Not only is it disgusting, but it is very bad for the economy in the long run.
The version of the quote on the linked site may be from another occasion, or it may be conflated with Calin Coolidge's statement that "the business of America is business."
