instead they went with other programming, none of which appeals to me (or to most AAR listeners for that matter).

I'd venture a guess that not many AAR listeners are interested in NASCAR, no doubt there are some, but they are in the minority.

Sirius only has so much to spend on programming, they made their choice of where to spend it and AAR was not part of their choice.
