but the guitar he helped design, the Gibson Les paul is among the most popular musical insturments ever made, and one of the best sounding. The Gibson les paul Standard could be considered the Standard guitar of rock music

I have an Epiphone Les Paul Standard, which is actually made by Gibson, and the biggest single difference is it is not as fancy and is much cheaper. Other than that, it is a fantastic insturment.
