My best friend died of pancreatic cancer. It was quick, he was diagnosed, and 2 weeks later he was gone! He was my husband's best friend for 30 years. However, he and I took off on our own little friendship (for about 5 years), very independent of theirs. It was extremely painful for both of us. Before he was diagnosed, we had just decided to get married, which Mike was so happy about. About 2 weeks after he died, I had a dream, he and I were in his hospital room, he got out of bed, got dressed, told me he was good and that "I'm going home now." Since then, he has passed through my dreams, from time to time, to give me a thumbs up.

My husband and I got married on Mike's birthday. The Christmas before he died, Mike gave my husband a pair of dress socks (guys?). My husband wanted to wear them at our wedding, but he had lost one. So at our wedding, he had mismatched socks!
