5. I was backpacking thru Europe in 89
Edited on Sat Oct-13-07 12:45 AM by rakeeb
with my sister. She wasn't big into assimilating, or even "tasting" other cultures for lunch, she was big on hitting the Burger King's and McDonalds in Europe. I was big on photographing the contrast they created in their environment there.

We were in Florence for two days. We walk into a small cafe for dinner. I pointed out to her that someone had what looked like a burger.
She orders a "cheeseburger," in her loud, slow, sing-songy and grand gesturing way of delivering english like that makes it easier for non-english speakers.
The waiter brings her a small plate with a beef patty and a small plate with three slices of provolone.
I suggested to my sister that perhaps with larger gestures she could communicated her order more effectively, and quietly thanked the waiter on my way back to the WC for making my day.
Yes the wait staff and cook were laughing.

But this all leads into my question: did you use grand gestures and speak loud and slow when you added the extra salted glass?
